Shine God’s Light in Prison

Have you ever longed to share the Gospel to people who are desperate to hear the good news of Jesus?

One Sunday a month, bring church service to inmates at the all-women LA County Jail in Lynwood. These women are at a turning point in their lives and their hearts are open to God–many have already committed or re-dedicated their lives to Jesus. Volunteers are paired to: 1) lead worship 2) give a personal testimony 3) preach the message. This women’s small group will give you space to: observe a service at the jail in October, submit an application if interested, and prepare to minister effectively to inmates. The wait for application approval is one year–meanwhile, we’ll discuss books and articles on prison ministry and hone our skills in leading a church service. By next fall we will serve together at the jail. No prior experience or skills necessary–bring a heart of service and God will provide.

Please contact Karen Ming Taylor at karenmingtaylor[at] for more info or to participate.

Description: This Bible study is open to all. We will simply be reading through the book of Amos at a slow pace and discussing it verse by verse in community with each other. Our hope is that this study is led and influenced by the Holy Spirit and that, through interacting with the scriptures together, our understanding of God will be strengthened, expanded, and deepened as we discuss and look closely at scriptures that we may have sped read through in the past.
